Obama, McCain set to duel over economy ... REPORT: "The presidential candidates will duel over the economy this week, with Republican Sen. John McCain touting proposals he says will stimulate job growth and Democratic Sen. Barack Obama discussing economic security for families. McCain, an Arizona senator who has wrapped up his party's nomination, will embark on a tour of Colorado, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin -- all toss-up states in the November election to win the White House. The Arizona senator spent last week on a swing through Latin America highlighting his support for free trade, prompting some observers to question why he went abroad at a time when employers cut U.S. workers from their payrolls for a sixth straight month and gasoline prices continued to sting ..." Kucinich: Edwards’ pro-war posture in ’04 raise serious credibility questions

11.21.07 -- 11:09 AM

By Dennis Kucinich

Revelations in today’s New York Times regarding John Edwards’ staunch pro-war stance as a Vice Presidential candidate in 2004 “raise serious questions about the credibility of his positions on every issue being debated in this Presidential campaign,” Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said today.

“Voters have every right to ask, ‘Were you telling the truth then, John, or are you telling the truth now?’ And Senator Edwards has a responsibility to answer,” Kucinich said.

In a major story today about the relationship between Edwards and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry during the 2004 campaign, the Times reported, “Mr. Kerry had increasing doubts about the war. But Mr. Edwards argued that they should not renounce their votes — they had to show conviction and consistency.” Edwards was a co-sponsor of the 2002 war authorization resolution, along with Sen. Joseph Lieberman.

Kucinich Spreads an Unapologetically Liberal Message

11.21.07 -- 9:21 AM

By Ray Duckler - Concord Monitor

Dennis Kucinich is short. Always has been. He could barely see over the center's butt as a backup quarterback at St. John Cantius High in Cleveland. His wife, Elizabeth, an eye-catching redhead, is 5 inches taller, without heels.

His opponents in the democratic run for the White House also tower over the congressman from Ohio. All 5-foot-7 of him.

But there was Kucinich yesterday at Concord High, making his height a plus in the school auditorium. Yes, he's small, he told the students. And we all know that voters often attach weight to height, as though taller means stronger.

Kucinich Protests Army Training School

11.18.07 -- 2:08 PM

By Associated Press

Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich said Sunday the thinking that went into producing an Army school blamed for human rights abuses in Latin America was the same that led the U.S. to war in Iraq and could cause it to raid Iran.

Kucinich was speaking at the 18th annual protest of the school at Fort Benning that trains Latin American soldiers, police and government officials. One of his first acts as president if elected would be to close the school, he said.

Huckabee: Abortion Not States' Call

Washington

11.18.07 -- 1:51 PM

By Associated Press

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee rejects letting states decide whether to allow abortions, claiming the right to life is a moral issue not subject to multiple interpretations.

"It's the logic of the Civil War," Huckabee said Sunday, comparing abortion rights to slavery. "If morality is the point here, and if it's right or wrong, not just a political question, then you can't have 50 different versions of what's right and what's wrong."

"For those of us for whom this is a moral question, you can't simply have 50 different versions of what's right," he said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday."

Romney Assails Giuliani on Immigration

Burbank, California

11.16.07 -- 10:00 AM

By Michael Blood - Associated Press

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Thursday that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is partly responsible for the vast number of illegal immigrants living in the U.S. today.

As mayor of the nation's most populous city for eight years, Giuliani created an environment that lured illegal workers by sheltering them from legal risk, Romney said.

"He welcomed illegal aliens to the city," Romney told reporters after appearing before about 200 supporters at a hotel. "That sanctuary state of mind is one of the reasons we have so many illegal immigrants in our country today."
